TALLEST PEAK IN AFRICA

It is the highest mountain in Africa, standing at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level.

Kilimanjaro is not part of any mountain range, making it the tallest free-standing mountain in the world.

Kilimanjaro has three distinct volcanic cones:

Kibo (the highest and dormant, with a chance of future eruptions),

Mawenzi (eroded and not climbable for most hikers),

                  Shira (extinct).

Despite being located near the equator, Kilimanjaro is famous for its snow-capped peaks, although these are rapidly diminishing due to climate change.

It attracts thousands of adventurers and climbers annually due to its accessible trekking routes and varying difficulty levels. No technical climbing skills are required, making it a popular choice for many.

It holds spiritual and cultural importance for the local Chagga people and is a symbol of Tanzania’s natural heritage, even appearing in the country’s tourism campaigns and emblems.
